Twyfelfontein

Twyfelfontein is a nature reserve located in northwestern Namibia, renowned for one of Africa’s richest collections of prehistoric rock paintings and engravings. Its name means “Devil’s Fountain” in Afrikaans, inspired by the unusual rock formations and the mystical atmosphere of the area. The site contains over 2,500 images created by the San people thousands of years ago, depicting wild animals, humans, and symbolic figures that tell ancient stories and beliefs. Twyfelfontein is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an important destination for archaeologists, tourists, and cultural heritage enthusiasts. Besides its cultural significance, the area impresses with unique geological formations, dry riverbeds, and desert landscapes.
