
The gondola is a traditional Venetian boat and one of the symbols of Venice. Historically, it was the main vehicle on the canals of the city, but today it mostly serves for entertainment for the visitors.
The dimensions and construction of the gondola are strictly defined by a law from the 18th century. The length of the barge is 11.5 meters, and its width is 140 cm. The gondola has an asymmetrical shape, the length of the girth on the port side is 24 cm greater, about the width. The hull has a rounded shape, the nose is raised up4 to minimize contact with the water. A maximum of 6 people can ride on the gondola.
