
The "Doge's Palace", located in the center of the Italian city, is one of the main cultural attractions, that symbolizes the political power of Genoa.
In the past, the historic building used to be home of the Doges of Genoa. Today it houses a museum, which is often used for organizing various cultural events and exhibitions.
The construction of the first part of the palace was in the period 1251-1275, and it was completely completed in 1539. In 1992, the building was restored in honor of the Christopher Columbus 500th anniversary of the discovery of America.
