Дворецот на дожите

Венеција, Италија

The palace was the official residence of 120 Doges who ruled Venice from 697 to 1759. The building was an amazing mix of Byzantine, Gothic and Renaissance architecture, but from the first construction nothing remained.

The palace was built on the basis of existing Roman walls. The old building was destroyed by fire and was reconstructed several times. Many well-known artists participated in the decoration of the palace: Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto, Bellini.

The Hall of the Great World, the Hall of the Senate, the chambers of the doges and the prisons with acquaintances from the Bridge of Sighs are most appealing to visitors.
