Lorca Castle was built between the 9th and 15th centuries. The castle consists of a number of protective structures, which throughout the Middle Ages turned the town and castle into an irresistible place in the south-eastern part of the Iberian Peninsula. 250 years is a key strategic post for the time of the Roconquista. 640 meters long and 120 meters wide, Lorca is one of the largest castles in Spain. It is not known when and by whom the castle was built, but the first discovered mention is in the 9th century in an old Ottoman record.
