Malmö Castle, one of the most interesting monuments in the city, is a tribute to Sweden’s rich history and culture.
The castle was built as a fortress in the late 14th century before becoming a royal home in the 16th century. Over the years, the fortress lost its significance and from 1820s was used as a prison.
Later in 20th century Malmöhus was used as an emergency shelter for homeless citizens for almost 30 years.
Today, Malmö Castle is open to the public and operate as a museum showing exhibitions. There is also a park with groomed flowers, ponds, and statues.
