Imerovigli is a traditional Cycladic village, built on the remains of a volcanic crater, called "the terrace of the Aegean Sea" because of the wonderful view that opens towards the caldera.
Truly, the name Imerovigli originates from the word "vigla", which means "viewpoint", since the location allowed village dwellers to see the pirate ships approaching in the past.
The town is only 2 km from the capital of Thira and contains many beautiful churches in the Cycladic style.
