Ла Нуција

La Nucia is a village in Benidorm, 3 km. from the coast of Althea. The center is located overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, 51 km away. from Alicante. The name comes from the Arabic word Naziha ("delicious"). The name was given by King James I of Aragon and Beltran de Belluig. At the beginning of the 17th century, La Nucia belonged to Alfonso Fajardo, baronet of Polop, from the family of Fajardo de Mendoza. La Nucia became an independent village in 1705.
