Неа Каликратија

Неа Каликратиа, Грција

Nea Kallikratia is a small tourist village located on the western part of the Halkidiki Peninsula, on the coast of the Gulf of Thessaloniki. The inhabitants of the city are about 6000 inhabitants.

Nea Kallikratia was founded in 1922 by Greek refugees from the Thracian town of Kalikratia (a suburb of Istanbul), today Mimarsinan. A prehistoric village was discovered in the area. The Neakalicratic burial stele was also discovered there, which proves the development of the area.

Today it can be seen in the Thessaloniki Archaeological Museum and is the most important relief discovered in Northern Greece.
