The city of Napoli is located in the western part of Southern Italy. It is located on the Gulf of Naples, an Tyrrhenian Sea. It is an important port city and is also the third largest in the country. It has a population of 950,000.
Napoli is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, believed to have over 2,800 years of history. The city is famous for its rich cultural and architectural heritage. The historical center, which is the largest in Europe (1.7 hectares), is under the protection of UNESCO.
One of the most emblematic buildings for the city is the Nuovo Castle, which was built by Charles I (the first king of Naples). Other famous castles are Sant'Elmo and Castel dell'Ovo. The main square in the city is called Piazza del Plebiscito, where the Royal Palace and San Francisco di Paola are located. Many more museums and churches can be visited in the city.
An interesting fact is that the city is often associated with delicious pizza, it is thought that pizza originated here.
