Nuremberg Castle is a monument of the city's medieval architecture. It consists of the Imperial Fortress (Kaiserburg) in the western part and the Burggrafenburg (Burggrafenburg) in the eastern part. The fort was destroyed by bombing during the Second World War and was completely restored to its historical appearance after the end of the war. Today the fortress has been turned into a museum. Not only the buildings in the fortress are open for visits, but also the beautiful park around them.
