"Vendome" square was created according to a project by the great French architect Jules Ardouin-Mansard, and it got its name in honor of the Duke of Vendome, who owned a residence here. It has a rectangular shape and is considered representative of the era of Louis XIV. Today, the prestigious Ritz Hotel, the offices of prestigious fashion houses are located here, and in the center of the square rises a column engraved with a drawing from the battle of Austerlitz and crowned with a statue of Napoleon dressed as a Roman emperor.
