The construction of the square began in 1762, and in its final form dates from the beginning of the 19th century. It is located on the southern part of the river Liffey. This is one of the oldest and most majestic squares from the time of the royal George dynasty. Around the square are located many government buildings, as well as many cultural institutions: the Natural History Museum, the National Art Gallery, the National Museum, which attracts over two million visitors every year, as well as many others. Here is the house where Oscar Wilde lived. Around the square are the modern shopping streets "Nassau" and "Grafton", which are rich in shops and boutiques.
