Пристаништето в Кавала

Кавала, Грција

The port of Kavala has played a major role in the development of the city since ancient times. It was built by the local population of the island of Thassos at the end of the 7th century BC. It is believed that the apostle Pavle arrived here and began to spread Christianity in Europe. In the 16th century, the export of products such as cotton and wheat flourished. In addition, the harbor has always been important for local fishing. In 1920, the construction of the modern port began.

From Kavala there are direct ferry connections to the islands of Thassos, Limnos, Samothraki and others.
