The church dedicated to St. Spiridon, rises in the heart of the old town of Kerkyra. Its architecture is typical of the Ionian Islands, strongly influenced by the Western European Renaissance. Of particular interest is the ceiling of the building, divided into seventeen sections depicting scenes from the saint's life. To the right of the altar, in a silver casket, his remains are kept. Spyridon is considered the patron saint of the island - according to local residents, thanks to him, Corfu was never conquered by the Ottoman Turks.
