Црквата ''Свети Матијас''

Будимпешта, Унгарија

The Church of St. Matthias gets its name from its greatest, most significant philanthropist, King Matthias, who was twice married in it. The church, which today is one of the landmarks of modern Budapest, was built during the construction of the royal palace. Many kings of the Hungarian rulers were crowned in it. With each new ruler, it is subject to changes and decorations. When the Turks conquered Pest in 1541, they turned the cathedral into a mosque, and the icons and frescoes were destroyed with a layer of lime.
